One of these things is not like the other...it's Robert Duvall. That's right, we're talking about the perplexing 1996 movie A Family Thing. Long time listeners might recognize this as the movie Jordan's sister thought she was watching for the Black or White episode. Starring Robert Duvall and James Earl Jones, the movie fails by it's very premise of trying to convince us Robert Duvall is even .00000001% Black.
We're so excited to be joined by the legendary and hilarious Bassey Ikpi (I'm Telling the Truth but I'm Lying) to break down all the ways this movie went wrong. From the relationship between the two "brothers" to the big mamma trope, to where exactly does "nigger town" begin and end.
Bassey is one of the funniest and thoughtful people around! Her writing on mental health is incredible stuff and her book is a must read. You can find her at www.basseyipi.com as well as Twitter (@basseyworld) and Instagram (@basseyworld)
We're still holding on to the strands of Twitter over at @white_pod and you can always reach us at whitepeoplewontsaveyoupod@gmail.com
We've got more Wakanda Forever coverage coming your way soon, as well as some end of year wrap ups and our second annual Holiday episode, so stay tuned!

"WAKANDA FOREVER!" Welcome to the first of many conversations about Wakanda Forever, the latest installment in the MCU and perhaps the biggest film this year. Joining us to talk about the movie as well as the comics is writer and journalist extraordinaire, Evan Narcisse!
We talk about his work on titles like Rise of the Black Panther and Wakanda, what makes T'Challa the hero he is, the comics to screen adaptions, and much more!
Find Evan's work wherever you buy comics! He's worked on books like New Day: Power of Positivity, Rise of the Black Panther, and the current Batman: Gotham Knights - Gilded City and Wakanda. Evan also helped work on games like Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Red Fall! And follow him on social media at @evnarc
We'll have more Wakanda Forever coverage soon, so be on the lookout! Until then, follow us at @white_pod and hit us up at whitepeoplewontsaveyoupod@gmail.com

"It's the sport of kings/better than diamond rings", that's right, we're talking about football, specifically the 1986 "comedy" Wildcats. Starring Goldie Hawn and the film debut for both Woody Harrelson and Wesley Snipes, you'd think it would at least be mildly entertaining. Instead they just turned the 80's to the max and let the cameras roll.
Luckily we have Shane Paul Neil as our QB to guide us through the wacky world of this movie. From Nipsey Russell's closet full of peanut brittle, Finch's food gags, horny Wesley jumping on anything that moves, or Goldie's terrible parenting, we talk about it all.
You can find Shane on Twitter @ShanePaulNeil (while it still exists) as well as check out his photography and writing over at his site. And if you're looking for some holiday gifts, check out his shop for some amazing photos!
As always, find us @white_pod on the sinking ship known as Twitter and hit us up at whitepeoplewontsaveyoupod@gmail.com to share your thoughts, movie suggestions and more. Thankful to you all for listening, and we'll be back next week with Bassey Ikpi for A Family Thing.

November Criminals

Thursday Nov 17, 2022

Thursday Nov 17, 2022

This week a movie Jordan stumbled across while watching previews for The Dark Tower on DVD.
If you never heard of this one, that's the point! A buried mess of a film staring Ansel Elgort and Chloe Grace-Moretz, it follows a young white kid who desperately tries to solve the murder of his Black friend. And by solve his murder we mean try to get laid at every turn and find out his friend was every Black stereotype in one.
We discuss why the hell a movie like this even gets made, how insufferable Ansel is, and generally roast the hell out of this one.
Find us on Twitter (for now) at White_pod and hit us up at whitepeoplewontsaveyoupod@gmail.com with your thoughts and comments on this movie and more. Also be on the look out for our Wakanda Forever coverage starting this weekend!

What if Sean Fury's "Bi-Racial Girl" was a movie? This week we discuss 1993's misfire, Made In America starring Whoopie Goldberg, Ted Danson, Nia Long and Will Smith. Helping us break it all down is the man who gave Cameron his first big break and cast member on East New York on CBS, Darien Sills-Evans!
We talk about what went wrong with the plot of this one, the infamous Ted Danson blackface incident, and what exactly is "D-estiny"? Also Darien talks about his time as an extra in Scent of a Woman and Malcolm X.
If you want to see Darien doing his thing in a bigger role, check out East New York on Sundays on CBS. You can also follow him on Twitter and Instagram @dasefatcap.
And as always, you can find us on Twitter (for now) @white_pod and reach us at whitepeoplewontsaveyoupod@gmail.com We love to hear from you! And speaking of, we'll be doing a few Wakanda Forever round ups in the coming weeks so be on the look out for those! We'll be back next week with *shudders* November Criminals.

42 (2013)

Wednesday Nov 02, 2022

Wednesday Nov 02, 2022

With the World Series underway and Wakanda Forever on the horizon, we thought it would be the perfect time to look at 2013's 42, starring Chadwick Boseman.
It's a movie that's fairly sanitary until Alan Tudyk goes for the racial slur world record in one scene. We discuss Jackie Robinson's impact and legacy, what Spike Lee's version of the movie could have been, and the trouble with being the "first" to break barriers.
For now, you can find us on Twitter @white_pod but we'll have to see how long that's viable. Good thing you can always reach us at whitepeoplewontsaveyoupod@gmail.com We'll be back next week with Made In America, for real this time!

It's spooky season ya'll! Happy Halloween everyone, and as a treat, we're taking a break from white saviors for the week and celebrating a Black horror classic, 1999's Deep Blue Sea. We're joined by the hilarious Dare Johnson and friend of the show Shawn Pryor to talk about this glorious film!
Where to begin? With the amazing death scene from Sam Jackson? The pettiness of the sharks? The incredible music video for Deepest Bluest? So many things to talk about on this one!
Follow Dare (@badicaldude) and Shawn (@shawnrpryor) on Twitter to find out all the wonderful things they're working on.
You can follow us at @white_pod for more on Deep Blue Sea as well as recommendations for what to watch this Halloween! And feel free to send us a message at whitepeoplewontsaveyoupod@gmail.com we'd love to hear from you! We'll back next week with a look at the Whoopie Goldberg misstep, Made in America.

Sunset Park

Wednesday Oct 19, 2022

Wednesday Oct 19, 2022

Just Jordan and Cameron again this week (more fun guests coming soon), but we've got a fun one as we discuss the 1996 basketball comedy(?), Sunset Park.
Starring Rhea Pearlman and Fredro Starr of Onyx, the movie is basically Eddie but in high school and edited using Terrence Howard math. We discuss the emptiness of the ideas in the movie, the lack of any Onyx songs, and if Air Bud would wash this whole squad.
As always we appreciate you for checking us out! Find us on Twitter @white_pod and hit us up at whitepeoplewontsaveyoupod@gmail.com
We'll be back next week with our Halloween special talking about the classic, Deep Blue Sea.

Enter The Warriors Gate

Wednesday Oct 12, 2022

Wednesday Oct 12, 2022

This week, we talk about a movie that somehow makes Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets seem somewhat competent, as we discuss another Luc Besson flop, 2016's Enter The Warriors Gate.
Inexplicably staring Dave Bautista and some high profile Chinese stars, this movie is the definition of a head scratcher. Unnecessary set up, check. Unasked for dance breaks, check. Blaccent, check. And on top of all that, it misses all of the easy wins it could have had.
Jordan and Cameron talk all of the odd acting choices, the total disrespect to Jade's classic "Don't Walk Away Boy", and the inflation of Arizona ice tea.
Thanks so much for listening! If you want to reach out to us, you can say hi at @white_pod on Twitter or hit us up at whitepeoplewontsaveyoupod@gmail.com
And if you'd be so kind, rate, review, and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts! We'll be back next week with more caucacity!

Thursday Oct 06, 2022

Between Cam's birthday and New York Comic Con, we sadly don't have a skit this week, but we do have a hilarious episode!
We welcome James III (of Black Men Can't Jump in Hollywood, Rule of III comics) to discuss a childhood favorite of his, 1996's The Ghost and The Darkness.
This movie has everything! A colonial and confederate team up, nonsensical plans, and apparently almost as many on set deaths as you see on screen.
We talk about why they can't just shoot the damn lions, the real story of the Tsavo man eaters, and ask the real question, are you #teamlion?
James is a hilarious comedian, writer, and actor! Black Men Can't Jump in Hollywood is a big inspiration for our show, so if you aren't listening, tune in ASAP! Also check out his sketch show Astronomy Club on Netflix, as well as the Big Mouth spin off Human Resources.
Follow James @james3rdcomedy and tune into his AMP radio show Corrupted Files every Tuesday where he interviews folks from all over the pop culture landscape!
As always, you can follow us on Twitter at @white_pod and hit us up at whitepeoplewontsaveyoupod@gmail.com. like, review, and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts. Much love and we'll see you next week with more Caucacity!
