This week, we've got a special Patreon preview! As we get things ready to launch, we thought it would be fun to give a little a preview of some of the things we got in store.
From discussions on film, to interviews with creatives and journalist, to reviews of Black Tubi movies, we have big plans. So let us know what you'd like to see!
For today, we decided to dive into the very serious discussion of who is canonically Black. Piccolo, Gargoyles, Knuckles, the shark from Deep Blue Sea. We run through our list of well known as well as deeply held beliefs of undercover Black characters.
Do you have some that we missed? Hit us up at @white_pod or whitepeoplewontsaveyoupod@gmail.com and let us know! We'll be back with a doozy of a movie next week, The Crickets Dance.

*Note: Excuse the opening audio quality. A few technical issues but we get it sorted a few minutes in. Sorry about that*

This week we accept one of our most ambitious missions yet as we talk Bond...James Bond. That's right, we set our sights on the foremost super spy alongside the marvelous Frankie Huang!
We start by discussing the latest movie and final in the Daniel Craig saga, No Time to Die.  Did they do Lashana Lynch dirty? What was the deal with Rami Malek's accent? And how does this film set up the future of the franchise.
We then dive into Bond as real world colonial analogue, what we'd like to see moving forward and check out the current betting odds. Is Idris still in the running?
Frankie is a super talented writer and illustrator whose work you can find at www.frankie-huang.com ! Support her art and read some of the amazing and thoughtful articles she's put out into the world.
And as always you can find us at @white_pod on Twitter, and write into us at whitepeoplewontsaveyou@gmail.com
We'd love to hear any movie recs, thoughts, or wild caucity you've seen in the world. Until next time, peace!

Si Se Puede! We're back with another nostalgic fave as we head to regionals to judge the 2002 Disney Channel Original Movie, Gotta Kick It Up! Cameron is out this week, but Jordan is joined by the tremendous Brenda Gonzalez of the Tamarindo podcast.
Together, they talk about Ms. Bartlett's unseasoned dance moves, the coded Disney imagery (specifically Chuy), and true story that inspired the movie.
Also, in this weeks caucacity, white people trying to claim Aguas Fresca?
Much love and thanks to Brenda for joining us this week! You have to check out Tamarindo, a Latinx empowerment podcast discussing culture, politics and self care. Subscribe wherever you podcast and follow the show @tamarindoCast

HOW DID NO ONE KNOW HE WAS WHITE!?!?
Sorry, getting ahead of ourselves. This week, Jordan and Cameron discuss a movie people have been asking for again and again. 1986's Soul Man.
Look, C. Thomas Howell is in black face. Period. That's the movie. But we are so very lucky to be joined by the perfect guests to discuss this train wreck, Wynter and Karen from Waiting to X-Hale!
There's so much to discuss here. Karen and Wynter discuss seeing this movie in theaters. We talk about the absurdity of "tanning pills", C. Thomas Howell and Rae Dawn Chong getting married (!) after this movie and their continued defense of the film. And the fever dream of a music video that came out with the movie.
Karen and Wynter are incredible. Truly. So smart and funny and obviously you want more from them. So follow Karen at @Inlandemperor and check out her work and books at Karentongson.org. You can find Wynter at @wyntermitchell. And find Waiting to X-Hale wherever you podcast!
As always, check us out on Twitter @white_pod and write into us at whitepeoplewontsaveyoupod@gmail.com with all of your thoughts, movie recommendations, caucacity, and more! And finally, if you'd be so kind, subscribe, rate and review wherever you get your podcasts!

Kazaam

Wednesday Jul 20, 2022

Wednesday Jul 20, 2022

We Genie? In another WPWSY investigation, we follow up on a question posed by friend of the show, Brent of Home Video Hustle...is Kazaam a white savior movie?
On the one hand, it's mostly a terrible kids movie with some unbelievably bad raps by Shaq, goofy CGI and a non-sensical plot. On the other hand, Max literally grants Shaq his freedom after telling him multiple times that he "owns him".
We also get into some prime caucacity this week and discuss who the best basketball player turned actor is.
As always, if you enjoy the show, please subscribe, rate, and review wherever you podcast. Every little bit helps us keep growing the show. You can always find us at @white_pod on Twitter and write into us at whitepeoplewontsaveyoupod@gmail.com
Until next time, in the Immortal words of Kazaam...Let's Green Egg and Ham It!

Wednesday Jul 13, 2022

On part two of our very special episode, we get into some of the crazier episodes of Diff'rent Strokes. Drummonds Korean War love child? The slave owning ancestor? The native burial ground?
The tremendous Kachelle and Kalisha Zachery of WATZS Productions help us discuss each of these wild episodes, the legacy of Eric Monte, and the proverbial cornucopia of caucacity that's been happening this summer.
The Zachery sisters are doing so many amazing things and you need to check them out. Hit up the website, their Twitter, and Instagram to keep up with what they have coming soon to your screens.
As for us, you can find us at @white_pod and reach out to us at whitepeoplewontsaveyoupod@gmail.com We've got a lot of great things coming your way, including a very special anniversary episode you won't want to miss!

Wednesday Jul 13, 2022

Today, a very special episode of WPWSY! That's right, we're talking about the seminal TV show, Diff'rent Strokes. The show that turned Gary Coleman into a star, ushered in a new era of TV, and also was problematic as hell.
We're joined by the tremendous Kachelle and Kalisha Zachery of WATZS Productions to talk about Norman Leer, the infamous blackface episode, and proper representation.
The Zachery sisters are doing so many amazing things and you need to check them out. Hit up the website, their Twitter, and Instagram to keep up with what they have coming soon to your screens.

The Substitute

Wednesday Jul 06, 2022

Wednesday Jul 06, 2022

School is out, but we're going back to the classroom, rolling out the big TV on the cart, and watching Bill Nye. That's right, we're talking about The 1996 caucastic classic, The Substitute.
Starring Tom Berenger, Ernie Hudson, and Diane Venora, it's a masterclass of middle aged karate, 30 year old gangbanging teens, and one of the most convoluted plots we've seen in a while.
Nothing to plug this week, except if you can, think about making a donation to the NNAF Abortion Funds to help support local clinics.
Also, consider donating to the Akron Bail Fund to help support protestors still imprisoned for demonstrating against the cops who murdered Jayland Walker.
As always, you can follow us on Twitter @white_pod and write into us at whitepeoplewontsaveyoupod@gmail.com Don't forget to rate, review, and subscribe wherever you podcast. We just got our first one star on Apple which means a certain element might be catching on...
Till next time, stay safe and be on the look out for caucacity, because boy is it strong this summer!

We're lucky to be joined by the tremendous Hanna Flint (MTV Movies) to break down the long list of things wrong with this movie, starting with the fact that it's all a lie. We get into the true story of Pocahontas, talk about the strange behind the scenes, and if it would even be possible to remake the movie today.
Also, Lego Fast & Furious?
Many thanks again to Hanna, who just announced her debut book, Strong Female Character, is coming out Sept 29th! She also has two wonderful film podcasts for you to check out! First Film Club and The Fade To Black podcast. Both are terrific listens!

Gods of Egypt

Wednesday Jun 22, 2022

Wednesday Jun 22, 2022

Finally, the movie Jordan has been waiting to talk about since the podcast started, 2016's Gods of Egypt!
That's right, a movie called Gods of Egypt, but staring only one Black person (Chadwick Boseman). A movie called Gods of Egypt, but according to the director Alex Proyas, isn't actually about Egypt at all. A movie called Gods of Egypt, but cast one of the palest actors around in Geoffrey Rush as RA THE GOD OF THE SUN!
We get into the absurd casting, the incredible quotes from the director and cast, and get into some prime caucacity courtesy of James Patterson.
If you're in New York this week, head up to Brooklyn tomorrow to catch the premiere of Cameron's new film, Ferny & Luca
Also, head to your nearest comic shop and pick up Samurai Sonja #1 from Jordan!
As always, you can find us on Twitter @white_pod, and reach out to us at whitepeoplewontsaveyoupod@gmail.com We'd love to hear any movie recommendations, feedback, and more you have for us. And finally, if you dig the show, rate, review, and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts.
